your server is not saving the data to a file whether it be a mysql database or a .ini file. that is probably your problem but we wont know until we see some code

ports need to be forwarded most likely. Some ISP's such as Time Warner Cable ( which i have) make it very hard and try to not let you do that, so that can be a possible problem.
