Is it still worth it?

I ran a test server on 0.3.7 and every player was a cheater. Not every server has anti-cheat.

Nothing has changed and nothing should be expected to change. Having an anti-cheat software is a must if you want to run a serious server. That may not be a happy fact, but that's how it goes for every game. Even Blizzard had to deal with thousands of cheaters in World of Warcraft.

Most of those people who cheat are kids who do it because it makes them cool, because many people call them "hackers". It's up to the server owner to decide what behaviour is allowed and what isn't (I am fine with most CLEO scripts), and it's their responsibility to detect and punish those who break the rules. If you can give us tools to do that better (like the SendClientCheck thing I mentioned), then go for it, but otherwise, it's not a battle you have to fight for us.

Check nex-AC. It's open-source anti-cheat. And every developer can install this.
This AC can block 50-60% of cheats. And this is open-source.

Do you need to help make AC or what?
What are you expecting in my answer?
We're just ask you to fix small bugs.
All developers of ru-community can make list of bugs.
But will you fix it or not?

We did waited your online and ask the quetions for the last 5 years.
And now can you just say?
What do you want?
Some help or death this multiplayer as platfrom, because all projects will use launcers?

What does 2017 have to do with mod-******? Let me remind you that mod****** is a base of most cheats for sa-mp.

And at least ...
Every game have cheaters.
But in this game these are not stupid guys.
And they're working now to make this game better.

Kalcor,

Can you fix some bugs and combine 0.3.7 and 0.3DL and release it as 0.3.9? I really want these versions to merge into one because they divide the entire community into two parts.

I would also like to have some opportunities for anti-cheat:
  • GetPlayerSurfingOffsets
  • GetPlayerQuaternion
  • GetPlayerSurfingPlayerObjectID
  • You also need to add the ability to prevent a transport explosion using return 0 in the OnVehicleDeath event
(Many attackers use this to spawn all transport on the server.)

You are damn right!

Here's what I really think:

This mod is going down and there's nothing I can do about it.

The fundamental problem is that it has become increasingly difficult to obtain the GTA:SA 1.0 version.

The only way around it requires doing something illegal, like bypassing DRM or distributing pirate copies of the game. I'm not willing to risk jail over a free mod.

1. The mod is probably going down because you are no longer bothered to release updates to it despite the high demand from the community. You are literally being asked to release more updates and/or merge the versions. Or maybe even post 0.3.7DL on sa-mp.com so it is easily downloadable.

2. False, it's still easy.

3. Nobody asked you to do that. o.O

Care to enlighten? And sorry for this triviality, but everything ages/goes down/dies, call it whatever you want, and this mod is not an exclusion.

Kye, we heard and understood your position. In your case, this is most likely the burnout of you as a specialist or the usual loss of interest. We are very grateful to you for giving us such a product and really appreciate your contribution of 17 years. hundreds of thousands of players use your product - this is worthy of respect. You can not bother and leave the building completely. We, in turn, will improve SA-MP with all the resources available to us. Thank you!

You can get the 1.0 version through pirate sites. No?

You've found an easy scapegoat and ignored the most obvious problem.

How many times have you demanded updates from R*? How many times have you demanded GTA:SA source code from R*?

You know R* would simply ignore you, where there's a chance I might listen. That's the only difference.

Why do not you want to update the multiplayer for the steam version of gta_sa?

The first version of the steam version I checked was DRM'ed/encrypted.

The latest steam version I think is DRM free but would require updating all the addresses in sa-mp, a huge project. There's always the risk with auto-updating software that it gets instantly obsoleted.

Mate... As much as I want to believe your "there's a chance I might listen", the community has been asking for a merge of the two versions since what? Jan 2018?

How long should we wait until you put a final decision if you will actually merge the versions? In 5 years? Updates have to be done now and earlier as possible. Games and mods die due to lack of updates AND split playerbase (too many versions).
There's no secret that 0.3.7 has far more players than the DL version and that is partly blamed because sa-mp does not mention of DL's existence which gives it even less exposure.

I hope you understand what's going on. I'm not trying to insult you there.

but using patterns (signatures) will solve that problem, isn't it?

Many would disagree with you on this stance. From experience, I know lots of people are still looking for GTA:SA today and they usually find it without issues. There is a version on Steam that can be downgraded, so there is no need to update SA-MP for any other version.

In another words, if people want to play SA-MP, they will find their way, regardless of which versions are available. The main problem is not that people have a hard time finding out how to play it, it's because there are many newer games to choose from. And SA-MP is only as popular and as interesting as are the servers that use it. And the servers have to look for players, introduce new features, and make the gameplay interesting, but all servers are limited by what SA-MP itself can be used to achieve.

Yes, SA-MP is going down. We all know this will eventually happen, but as long as servers are dedicated to keep their players, it's not going to happen soon.

It's not in your power to stop the end from happening, but it's in your power to make SA-MP live longer. Just see how many people came and were interested when 0.3.9 was mentioned.
