Why do people still continue to care if their server is on the Hosted tab or not? Does it really change anything at all just to pay that much extra?

With prices wouldn't an OVH server (basic one to start with) be around $3/month.
Web hosting can also be around $5-$10 depending on what you can get, both MAY come with DDoS protection, otherwise you'll have to invest more into that.
Hosted tab has been discussed a lot though.

If your host doesn't offer hosted tab, and you are forced to go through dodgy looking sites that all have different information, I'd be a little worried.


Especially when Game-MP says they're full, and that we can't register a hosted tab server without it being ours, yet all these sites that are offering just that.



If there was anything to chase up, it should be why all these sites even exist considering the ToS the hosted tab actually has.


But really, why is the internet tab actually screwed, and when is it actually going to be fixed?

In my point of view, hosting a server doesn't make it yours either. So with the internet tab not working, and this being strictly disallowed. That would just ruin everything.

Again, I repeat. You should check out the Spanish section and review cases of server owners trying everything (even OVH) and having their servers taken down anyway. A cheap OVH VPS won't protect you, that's why you have to up it a bit. Take Crayder's advice in that case. But for a start, an OVH VPS will perform great. Just consider upgrading when you get bombed.

Lol. That's not an unrealistic number at all and I can list two cases to prove it.

One of those cases is still running strong with 4 owners (well 3, but another guy contributed greatly and they considered him part of their little group), not 6. The other, which had 7 owners in fact, ran strong for like 3 years before they went their separate ways communally. There were three servers running there, all on hosted tab. Each of those servers had a decent player base.

I've also seen quite a few people buy a VPS and rent dedicated servers, that's literally the same thing with 10's of owners.

Crayder is right,you can change your server slot anytime.
And last time I used VPS from DigitalOcean,they provide Ubuntu 14.04 PhpMyAdmin,so that won't take much more time.
