collect hardware data
#1

Is it possible? Can we collect and store hardware data from our players so we can have more control over them?

Because if a banned player has a dynamic IP, I can't stop him from returning to my server. And in my country the don't assign 1 range, but from 2 to 4 ranges of IP. And this player I keep trying to hold out is very lucky because he has common ranges with a lot of players. Banning all these ranges is causing a very big loss.

What can I do about this?

Sadly you can only ban player via IP.

Are you talking about gpci ? If yes then i didn't mention it as it can ban innocent players.

I've researched about it, and yes, it can ban innocent players. But it bans far less players than the normal range ban. And uses in combination with the IP range (like Kalcor suggested) it will do miracles on small servers like the one I am working for. Thank you for the suggestion!

If someone has another idea, tough, I'll be glad to read it.

I wouldn't personally feel comfortable with SA-MP having my HWID.

Maybe not the ID. Take for instance the motherboard and CPU names and put them into a lossy hash like this.
Or take driver versions....Something that can change when you reinstall windows. It wouldn't be unique, but those people that have the same generated serial, would be even fewer than 5% (that's the percentage with this CGPI serial).
