Are you running programs in the background while gaming? If so, what?

If it's in a server, it's probably the server lagging, almost no servers are as high end as your computer, what kind of servers do you play on? lots of people? start up community that probably uses a shit host...etc.

If it's GTA 4 thats lagging, it happens on all systems due to a terrible port job by Rockstar and friends...
