light is basically a free roam server with /me /do
medium is a rp server where rules aren't as strict as heavy and less realistic
and heavy is a roleplay server with stricter rules and more realistic

Well I learned how to roleplay on Italy Mafia Roleplay (IM-RP) but these days it's full of rulebreaks and corruption. I would suggest you to find a small server which based on a small county so you wont get confused that much.
