I myself use Namecheap all the time, I have a total of 9 domains, all bought by Namecheap. They also have discount coupons very often so you can get your TLD cheaper.
cpanel is server management software, it's irrelevant for getting a domain.

I was about to make this same post. Over 20,000 customers moved their domains from GoDaddy (nearly 100,000 domains in total at a MINIMUM). I was one of them.

As soon as they lost so many customers, GoDaddy went into damage control mode and did a complete 180 on their support for SOPA. They went from "supporting it" to "opposing it". So yeah, they are also a company that does not stick to what they believe in when it becomes inconvenient. Screw 'em

@ OP: I recommend using networksolutions or namecheap.

I should point out that I did say I had some domains with them, those I haven't transferred but I did cancel a large hosting contract with them.

We use to prefer both www.namecheap.com and www.name.com... This is reliable too.
