AMD's FXs are great for multithreading, but their single core performance is much lower then intels i series.
Most games cant handle more than 2 or 3 cores anyways, so you got 3 to 5 extra cores doing nothing and end up with a lower game performance than intel (e.g. intels 4670 is as fast as AMDs FX-8350 in full multithreading performance, but in single thread performance the intel one is 60% faster, making it also almost 60% faster in most gaming applications). Thats also the reason why hyperthreading cpus are nonsense for gaming pcs.
