I used to use photoshop for a while, but since I'm not shopping photos it's not what I needed and I didn't have a license.

paint.net is basically MS paint + features MS paint lacks: it has layers, transparency, magic wand, good history system, toggle-able anti aliasing, effects, many more tools, plugins and moar awesome stuff!

I normally use Adobe Photoshop CS6, but I also tried Cinema 4D and it's seems pretty nice for me, but I'm a bigger fan of Photoshop.

Lots of companies (and schools/universities) who have purchase agreements with software makers also have deals so that their employees can get a legit copy of their software for a fraction of the RRP, which also helps curb piracy.

He is from Germany, they are pretty rude against evil internet pirates there. Oh and also he smokes cannabis(judging by his avatar) and might be a little paranoid.
