firecrackers don't blow your fingers off. They hurt, but i've never lost a finger while holding a detonating firecracker

You're thinking of M80s or M100s (or whatever they are). Those are anywhere from 1/8 to 1/2 stick of dynamite. Theres a difference between these and firecrackers.

Ah, lightbulbs are fun, we tried the normal kind and enery efficient kind, first one shattered but the energy efficient one just got really bright.
