0.3 walls overused? -
[Twixx] - 23.11.2013
Whenever I roll trough the Maps section, I only see interior maps made out of SAMP's wall objects. Does anyone even make maps using the default San Andreas objects? I think the walls are too overused, makes it too easy to create something. Anyone can put together 4 wall objects and then just add furniture and get their work marked as ''professional''.
What's your opinion?

That's the whole point of these objects. To make it easier to map proper interiors.

Why use a piece of bamboo if you have a carbon fibre fishing rod?

Define 'proper'.

That's a very bad comparison.

Straight/aligned, rectangular, simple, good looking, realistic, fitting dimensions

I think it's pretty good. Why make walls yourself when you have premade objects for them?

It kinda ruins the purpose of mapping imo.

Then don't use those maps.

It ruins
your perception of mapping.
How would you define 'mapping'? And how do wall objects ruin your definition?

It's all about textures anyways, change the texture one object becomes many many more.

I agree with you. Some people can't even map with them. I can't even guess the distance between two of those walls..

Sorry, but i dont agree to you, these walls make map look better,

Also, if you build something with those walls, it will look like professional map, for the reason that is difficult to use this walls to make a place look good, but to use 1 simple house object its damn easy, just take the object, and put it there, put 2 fences and all done...with walls u can put windows, look good as exterior and interior.....

lol you serious dude? it's ugly! also, shows that you're not creative in mapping. using default gtasa objects show how creative you are. just imagine, creating a whole new house with object CJ_SPORTS_WALL as a wall/floor and wglasssmash as a window.
Using those objects(samp walls) is a bad practice if you're still learning how to map.

it may be more creative using CJ_SPORTS_WALL but why should i get tired to make 1 simple map when i can do it very fast with the walls...

fast and ugly.
those walls only good if:
- you're lazy in mapping.
- you want to create 100+ house
- you are not creative in mapping

Hahahahaha.. no.
Those walls look plain and overused, you see them everywhere thesedays. And it dosen't really look professional, since no skill is really required to use those walls. How is it difficult to use those walls? It's much more difficult and creative to make something using default SA objects. You can also make windows with default SA objects if you're experienced enough.

What if those people using the walls don't care whether it's creative or not? What if they just want a simple interior mapped and don't care about how good you are in combining GTA: SA objects to make something new? There is no real, correct mapping. For some it's a tool to create things that are not on the map by default, and for others it's some sort of creative art thing. Everything depends on your personal perception of mapping.
Additionally, those wall objects are taken from some original GTA: SA interiors, so they also fit into the game world.
