First of all: I don't know whether this has been brought up already or not.


Well, I look at the server advertisements often, and 1 thing just shows up at about 85% of the advertisements: Only a few sentences, no pictures, and only an ip/forum.
Personally I think this won't get any players. You can only advertize once a month, and people 'd sure like to see a good advertisement. Ofcourse it's their decision, but I'm sure this would attract more players.

I REALLY know it's the advertizer's decision; But what about a rule like:

- 1-2 screenshots at the very least.
- Needs to contain atleast 10 sentences of information, an ip, and [eventually] a forum.

This would definitely lure players. The advertisements like: JOIN MY SERVER ***.***.***.**:7777 won't really lure players, anyway.


So that's just MY point of view. Discuss.

Yes, I understand. But it's actually messing up a bit... Think about it like this;

You're a new guy at sa-mp. You decide to look in the server advertisement section to find a good server to get started on, instead of the big servers. You see like 40 advertisements containing no information (or barely).
That will seriously make that guy think like: "Okay, what's this. I can't get a clue of this, and it doesn't give me any info on how the server looks". "I don't really care for strolling through ALL advertized servers.".

Well, that sure makes that guy look at sa-mp in a different manner. Sa-mp is great, but this guy would probably think it isn't.

Videos
Pictures (Well, link to gallery)

and it looks good, then you look at another and it says:

MAI NEW SERVAR JOIN 132.123.123.123:5555!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's say someone has worked on a decent script and has spent time in setting up a website, forum and a SA-MP server. They finally decides it's time to get the advertisement up. He/She spends time working on a decent server advertisement.

An idiot downloads one of MANY Godfather scripts, sets up a crappy server by themself and 5 minutes later they hop onto the server advertisements and stick something in the title and simply put some crap like this:

NEW SERVER UP!!!!1!!1 IP 89.33.33.33 (or whatever the ip is)
COME NOW WE NEED ADMINS!

And that knocks your good server down the forum, which is surely going to piss you off?


I find crappy advertisements to be very annoying, it doesn't get my attention at all. Whereas someone who has put time into a server advertisement will grab my attention, and I'll probably check that server out.

Godfather servers are what piss me off the most, specially when they post a crap 2 line advertisement.

I've seen a few advertisements that have been quickly wrote, easy to read, have a brief description and get straight to the point. These are normally topics that have titles all in CAPITAL LETTERS and have a lot of explanation marks!!! They may seem noob-ish, but it's these type of adverts that have actually made me go and check out the server, than other adverts that just contain a few screens and about 10 paragraphs of writing that I really can't be bothered to read.
