Unique RP
#1

Hello everyone. I'm here to ask if the idea of an actually unique medium-heavy roleplay script sounds attractive to those who browse here. I've recently gotten back into SA-MP and I've looked around at some of the more active roleplay servers and they literally all use edited versions of the same script, just like the old days. I'm working on a LV/BC based script mostly for the fun of it and I'm just wondering if anyone likes the idea. I chose LV/BC areas because almost every current roleplay server is based in Los Santos and I had the most fun roleplaying on a server based in LV a few years ago.

Well, the thing is... (I'm speaking based on my view as I'm an owner of a community too) players tend feel comfortable when roleplaying or doing stuff in Los Santos. They're accustomed to the streets, buildings, sidewalks, etc. If pursuits are to occur or roleplay skits/scenarios are to commence, they won't have difficulties searching for streets and stuff. Similarly to Bone County and Red County, they're small. I don't wanna change your mind or anything or destroy your thought on making a server based on those places, but... if you'd ask me for opinions, I'd say neh lol. Back in the days, LV and SF servers were dope, but now, they're just dead. Would be cool if you can open one with a cool script (with awesome features, obviously) and let it be based on either of those two counties tho. I'd definitely support you if that happens...

Also, the scripts we see nowadays are basically rip-offs. It's rare to find a "good" script lol.. but if you have knowledge in pwn scripting, you can make a script of your own.

I've heard a few times that LV is "unscriptable," but I strongly disagree. I think a few parts of the map should be removed like most of the huge casino buildings but those can easily be remapped into something for players to use. I think I have some good ideas for the LV/BC areas. I think as long as I master the basics in the script, like methods of making/spending money, the players will drive the creation of the rest. Just need to know if people are interested in LV/BC roleplay.

The big staple of Las Venturas are the casinos. Removing the staples of the map will not improve it. Leave the strip alone and do something with the outskirts of the area. Instead of removing them, do something with the casinos. Make it work

Admittedly I'm not sure I would choose to find the time to play, but something that popped into my head when reading the OP was that both LV and Bone County have airports, which would theoretically make roleplay based around airport operations a bit easier. The interstate system is fairly well laid out, but in my opinion lacks a few on/off ramps. I agree with the other guy that said to keep the casinos as they are what define LV, but maybe have each of them "specialize" in a type of gaming.

Anyone have ideas they wish were more popular? I’m looking for some inspiration

Just follow your dreams and what you want to create, share some branding from your server around; advertise in discords that you are able to (don't go around in other servers advertising it or doing it via DM's, do it on advertisement servers)! You should become successful depending on the amount of effort you've put in.

The most unusual tend to last somewhat longer than the usual. Try being creative and doing your own thing! This isn't necessarily helpful but relocating was something most people tend to argue about. While you may pick what place you may want the players also must be open to change too.

I agree with this fully! It's just difficult in a solo project. It's hard to guide myself in the sense that I don't know exactly what order to add features. So far it has just been me thinking of something and adding it. It feels very random. At what point do you guys begin to bring people onto your projects?

I presume once you're satisfied that Roleplay the way you intend it could be done on your server.
So for example if your goal is to have a very realistic roleplay server, you can't open up without a proper damage system in place. If you go more for a medium RP server I presume that things like gang points or turfs are working.

The moment you can play it as if it's a professional game in BETA, some stuff might not be 100% perfect yet, but if it's at least playable that's good.
