Files are fine for logging stuff or for storing a few settings, but they don't cope well with large amounts of data. SQL was invented for that purpose. Files are always read top to bottom. If the thing you want happens to be at the bottom then the system will have to read and examine each and every line separately which is resource intensive and therefore slow. Also since this file is not in the ini file format (key=value) you cannot use any of the ini methods.
