Hello!

I'm looking for solutions regarding the use of VPN's / ISP's that provides proxies so people can effectively avoid bans on servers.
I don't exactly know where to start regarding this, but I have used a GeoIP plugin (https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=296171) to at least retrieve ISP information from players.
Now I'm more interested in how I could proceed starting out blocking VPN's / ISP's. Are there any past databases made for this purpose (or databases containing most ips) , or do one simply have to make a new database and add it all manually?

Which plugins are suggested and which methods is most effective? I am aware of that you can't prevent 100%, but I am looking for a way to limit it.

Help is always appreciated, and I'm looking forward to get any replies.

I think the basic method to preventing this is creating a list of 'Blackmarked' ISP's. ISP's retrieved from players such as 'Anonymous Proxy' or 'Digital Ocean' are good examples of VPNs. The only real way to see which ISPs are generated by a VPN is to get someone with a VPN to connect and see the results.

This isn't always 100% effective, but that being said, means there is no real 'already-existing system', because it's all based on your own judgement.

Back in 2013 I built with some friends a project that aims to catch people behind proxies/VPNs. It's called IPHub. Basically it contains a list of Hosting Provider ASNs and some IP ranges from VPN/proxy companies. We are actually pretty strict and don't blindly add IPs/ISPs to the blacklist.

Feel free to use our API, it's free.

It's worth mentioning that Autonomous System Numbers (and IP ranges too) are normal to change. An hosting provider company tomorrow could be a residential provider, you have to be careful about that.
