Timing out when alt tabbing over 20-30 seconds.
#1

Hey there.

I just thought of stating my problem here.
I run SA-MP on my desktop computer and i have the following problem:

Everytime i alt-tab for about..10-30 seconds i lose connection to the server i had connected to.
I really do not understand the origin nor cause of this problem.

I used to play on my laptop back in the days using Wi-Fi and i never experienced this problem.
Now i'm playing on a desktop with a LAN cable with 10 times the capability.
I heard there were patches in the SA-MP client, but whatsover, i've got the latest SA-MP client installed.
It's a clean CD-Install with minor game modifications equal to the install i had back in the days.

If anyone finds himself familiar with this problem, please inform of possible fixes.

Regards,
Tomboeg.

EDIT: Noticed i'm online as long as i ALT-Tab. Just when i tab back in i seem to lose connection.

This is a server-side problem. You can fix it using the Rcon Command

"playertimeout x"

x being the time you want to keep people online in milliseconds.

What's the strength of your connection to the server, host, and your internet? As far as I know whenever you are tabbed it pauses your connection. So technically you are connected but on a very limited connection rate until you tab back in for everything to resync and download.

My average server ping is 25 on the last server i played. I have this issue on all servers i play on.
Once i tab back In-Game, i directly reconnect.

My average download speed is 91Mbps while my upload speed i 95Mbps.
My internet is fast and by cable, this can not be the issue.
