Wrong screen res
#1

Hi!

I have bought and built a new gaming pc.

But the picture aren't on whole screen (screen res).

I have installed the motherboard drivers, the graphic card drivers and
the monitor drivers.

But some text on screen is blurry too anyways.

I have checked the settings too (Windows) I have the biggest screen res available already.

I have tried to change the screen res by the buttons on the screen to auto but it just says not accessible.
And I think it's another problem.

Graphic card: MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming 4GB GDDR5

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate.

I have also tried to look in the settings for the program that came with the grapic card.
But it weren't anything about that.

The only thing I didn't install was: Multimedia Utility: Xsplit Gamecaster.
Or do I need this?.

And yes I have tried to restart the pc too.

Not the best pic. But I think it's good enough in this case?.

Update: I found AMD Catalyst Control Center.
I changed to so screen should be in the middle or what I should call it but it didn't happen anything.
I also tried other things but didn't happen anything either.

Wrong aspect ratio obviously. You need to find the native resolution for your screen, everything else isnt working well.
Its probably either 1920x1080 (16:9) or 1680x1050 (16:10), either test it, or search for it online.

Edit: Syncmaster SA350 is 1920x1080.

When it's an amd graphics card, check the hdmi scale settings and adjust them. That should solve the problem, it did for me.

Haha it isn't ok :P. It isn't using the whole screen or what I should say.
There's black all around the screen in the edges.

It didn't showed so well in the picture, but if you look close you might see it.

The 1920x1080 I'm using now, but it's look crap.
It even says recommended for it. But still not looks good.

1680x1050 (16:10) it aleast filled up the whole screen.
But it looks crap too. Windows and text looks weird.

From what i've seen, He completely UNPLUGGED the monitor - Then wait couple of minutes, Plug it back in and restart, hope it works
Thanks! Not exactly what I meant, it isn't on half of the screen. But thanks anyway. Picture in attacments.

Now, your issue...

Is it the windows resolution itself you are talking about? Not the game...

Check your cables... Make sure you're not using any adapters on the video cable to get it to work on the monitor itself. It should be a pure cable, from the card, directly to the monitor.

If you're using a VGA, instead of the HDMI/DVI input, it'll kill its resolution.

What cable are you using? Did it come with the machine/card?

Also, have you run it near your power cables and all that sort of "conductive" stuff.
I'm using a HDMI cable that worked perfect before, I used with my old computer.

I'm not using any adapters.
