Entire network disconnects after loading SAMP
#1

1) SA-MP version: RC2
2) Windows version: Windows 7
3) Video card type: awful
4) IP:Port (if any) of the server you are trying to play on: 7777
5) If you are crashing, paste the crash report in your post and say when the crash occurs: n/a
6) If you are crashing loading SA-MP, please say whether GTA:SA single player works (test it): n/a
7) Do you have any other GTA:SA mods installed? e.g. new vehicles: n/a

Almost every time I load SAMP after updating to RC2 the internet in my house goes down. It takes down the entire network, and I can't figure out why. The few times that I have been able to get it to work have been when there were less than 100 people on the server, and even then most of the time it brings the network down. I have tried flushing my DNS, reformatting my computer, and even having a new modem sent out for my internet. My ISP tells me nothing is wrong and I usually have no issues until I load samp. Can anyone help me?

How do you mean, takes down the internet... For you, or for others connected to your router/connection? And whilst it is down, can you still play on SAMP?

Does it not happen in the release version (0.3z)?

And how exactly is your connection made? Are you on Wifi to the router?

What Modem setup do you have? Cable? DSL?

It takes down the internet for everybody in my house for 2-5 minutes.
It didn't happen in 0.3z.
I'm connected to a router that is connected to my cable modem. I have also tried connecting directly through the modem and it produces the same results.

you've switched the modems over, and there was no difference?

Can the other users use ping to the modem, and from there your ISPs webpage while you are ingame? (Ping to check a response

Run cmd

Ping 192.168.1.1 (Maybe diff on yours)
Ping ******.com
Ping www.whatever.com and record results)

What's your speed at on your connection too, not that in this day and age it should be an issue, but checking...

Also, have you been doing advanced setups to the routers in the past? DD-WRT? OpenWRT e.t.c?

And have your PCs on the internal network, changed anything from the network settings in the past, such as setting IPs so that they could browse or do anything. Disabling DHCP on a PC will sometimes fix issues, but later on down the track, IP conflicts can cause problems.

When those PCs lose connection, in the tasktray in windows Vista onward, the network icon should also say what's wrong. Some will simply say "Internet unavailable" but some say more, like IP conflict and such.

www.speedtest.net/my-result/4217122447 is my speed.

The only settings I've changed on my internet is the DNS settings, that's because I was getting DNS errors when loading websites. I still do occasionally.

Most of the time when my internet goes out it looks as if it's still connected on the taskbar, but will say it's unavailable for just a few seconds before connecting back to the internet.

so those were while you were running SA-MP, if not, try while you're trying to play RC2. (Keep in mind, this is from the OTHER PCs that lose connection when you start to play)

Now, with your PCs disconnect story, that seems dodgy. Have you got a switch or hub between you and the modem maybe?

That isn't while I was on samp because the last time I logged in it disconnected me before I could even attempt to do anything. The modem goes to a router that goes to my computer, yes. I've experienced the issue while connecting straight through my modem too, however.

I really think the issue itself, isn't with SAMP.

It sounds more like a network or a hardware issue.

Especially that your playing an RC version, kills the network for the others. Check their ping to those servers, watch your modem status (Maybe it fully disconnects for some reason).

I think ping -t <host> in windows does continuous pings until you hit Ctrl+C. You can open multiple command windows with cmd.

I don't think it's a network or hardware issue anymore because the issue only seems to come up when I log on to LSRP. Do you have any idea why that would happen?

Try logging onto another and see if it happens with more than just that one...

And I'm still waiting for the pings from the other PCs on the network when you are using samp.

If you need to simply log the ping "ping -t hostname >> c:\SAMPlog.txt" will work without the quotes and with hostname changed, also with SAMPlog.txt changed to echo the different output.

Okay, can you provide me a little more insight to the routing of your network? I want you to connect to a SA-MP server, quickly alt tab, and type "tracert ******.com" into your command prompt in Windows, so we can determine where exactly the hang is within your network route.

I have cable, so the internet initially comes in the house through a cable modem. That modem goes to a router in my bedroom and another ethernet cord comes from the router to my computer.

Is what shows up when I do tracert.

edit: That tracert is what came up when the game decided not to disconnect me yet. It seems like the initial disconnection comes at random, but any that follow within an hour are almost immediate.

So when you say the network disconnects, only your PC disconnects, not others connections....

All connections in the house fail.

I managed to do tracert just as I was disconnecting again. This is what came up.

I'm still sure on a hardware issue.

I've had modems die after having strenuous amounts of data put through them, resulting in the need to reset the modem, then, the network would work sweet until more data was put through them.
  • Try resetting the modem and router separately while the issue is happening, and while you have the samp window constantly trying to connect.

  • When you've replaced the modem it's been with the same brand, but a new out of the box one right (From the ISP)?
  • And you also have a router, but have tried a connection straight to the modem itself... Are there any other hubs/switches/WIFI APs on the network?
  • Have you tried another server? Maybe it's set to use LAN or something.

I have tried resetting them both seperately and it hasn't helped at all.
The modem is the exact same brand, but it was fresh out of the box and yielded the same results.
I have tried connecting straight from the modem and it hasn't changed anything.
I have tried other servers on RC3 and from what I can tell they don't seem to be disconnecting me. Why would LSRP be the only one to do it though?

Should try pinging each others computers or grabbing files off the local network whilst "disconnected"... See if you can, whilst unable to ping/connect to ******.

If you can do local stuff, but not net stuff, then it'd say there's something more intriguing.

I cannot even connect to my routers website when everything goes down. I've recently noticed my ping on the samp servers hits about 2.2k~ before the internet goes down completely.
