Windows 10 TP Crash
#1

Hey there. I'm updated Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 TP, and try connect to any server, i get crash (occurs before the start of the game, when i press button "Connect"). I'm deleted gta_sa.set file, and try again, but got same error, i'm checked folder with gta_sa.set and did not find it there. I also checked it on Windows 7 (Installed as a second OS near Windows 10), it's work fine. I also tried to run in compatibility with different versions (Windows 8/7/XP SP3), but to no avail.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem on Windows 10? How to fix it?

Game Version: US 1.
Solution:

1. Make sure that you can run other games. (if games not work, please update videocard drivers manually)
2. Delete gta_sa.set file in "%userprofile%/Documents/GTA San Andreas User Files".
3. Make sure that you disabled compatibility mode on gta_sa.exe and samp.exe.
4. Run samp.exe as admin (not necessarily, but recommended).
5. Profit!?

Windows 10 hasn't officially been released, Its a Technical Preview (as you stated 'TP'), Its not fully built, things missing and so on. Your best bet is something like 8.1 or 7, otherwise I doubt people will have any solutions.

I'm installed it as a second operating system, just need for developing and testing some apps. And i think SA-MP too must support Windows 10 in future.

I trying run GTA SA without multiplayer, but it does not start. I open Task Manager and found process gta_sa.exe, but game not started.

Does the single player game run by itself?

And have you tried running SAMP as admin?

As stated you are using a TP version there could be missing things such as directx9 support etc especially if the game itself is not loading.

Why would you literally update fully to a TP? It's not official, your not supposed to rely on it, it's a PREVIEW.

Dolphin, Id like to see some screens of it. Can you send me a link in a pm or something?

It was recommended by Microsoft not to install it on a PC you use every day.

The TP can crash anytime because it is not fully built.
I suggest you put back Windows 7 or 8.1.

No... Windows 8 doesn't need DirectX 9 to be installed and various others have had success without it.

Windows 7 however does.

And how does the usage of his PC relate to the TP?

He's got a problem running a game on his PC that he has CHOSEN to install the TP on... It's not a debate on whether he should've or not, so please, if you're not here to actually assist, then refrain from posting useless comments...

After all, both your posts, are simply comments, nothing towards helping the OP. He's installed it as a Dual Boot, so chances are he has a clue about what he's doing.

Right, so back to this...

If the single player game works, then chances are it's an issue with SAMP itself. By rights because he says that gta_sa.set is able to be deleted we could assume that the single player runs, HOWEVER, because he could've upgraded, the gta_sa.set could be from the old installation...

So therefore, we need the OP to provide more information, mainly regarding the game running in the first place.

Judging that Windows 10, will be based on a lot of Windows 8, there are threads in the forum that could provide assistance.

In all of these, DirectX9 isn't installed. If you've got the DVD/CD version, it should try installing DirectX, Same goes for the Steam version.

I'd advise against installing DirectX 9 on the TP, as it is more out of date than Windows 7, and not even Windows 8 needed the DirectX9 being installed.

My questions are as follows...

Does it work, in single player...

Is it a Steam Version, or a CD/DVD version...

Did you install it, or just copied the files over and ran it, without the install feature...

Thanks for the clarification, you are right.

1. It does not work in single player.
2. It is DVD version.
3. I have some versions of GTA SA, installed on old Windows 8.1 and installed on second Windows 7 (i think for Windows 10 it looks like copied, when for old Windows 8.1 version looks like installed)

I will try reinstall GTA SA later, maybe it solve problems.
