I was wondering what everyone hosts their websites on. I saw HostGator, and their business plan looks almost too good to be true, anybody have experience with this?

I've pretty well always used a linux box with VestaCP on it, which works, but its not as user friendly and i've been having some weird issues with it. Also, Cloudflare blocks the port, so if you use cloudflare you cannot access it.

So, what do you all use, and why?

Hello TakeiT,

I have been using HostGator's bussinesses plan for around 4 months now. Whilst hosting with them, I have had excellent support, up time and a lot more.

For web-hosting, they have my recomendation.

Kind Regards,
Death1300.

Smaller, local companies tend to provide better performance and better support. I previously hosted with SmartBytes but I got so much downtime with them it wasn't funny anymore. Then I moved everything over to a small Dutch company and I haven't had any downtime since. Plus, I get served in Dutch, too.

Use direct IP to access it then.

HostGator is a good host in general, how-ever they're very strict regarding legal software usage, so don't use any pirated logos / forum boards / etc.

I host my website on a Hetzner Online AG dedicated server which costs 50 USD per month.

Why would you have a dedicated server just to host a website Or am I missing something here?
