So.. i recently bought myself a small roleplay server, got a pretty decent gamemode but i was wondering how people gain lots of players? is there anywhere other than SA-MP Forums i can advertise? considering i dont have enough rep to post on SA-MP Forums? And by anywhere else i mean somewhere that players actually join, and not just some dead end advert .

Also how do people attract players? i mean my gamemode seems really good, i use to play on it before, and since theres a version without bugs and basically updated i thought DAMN IT i just need to host this brings back memories!!

Its a roleplay server, and ik theres quite a lot about so finding players is hard, but i mean my server has got some pretty realistic systems inplace, which cant be sed for some rp servers ive played on.

One main feature is the robbery system, when you rob a bank you gotta set it up and so on, whereas on some crappy servers all you do is run into a bank, type /robbank and wait 10 seconds or something xD
so i mean with these features? surely it must intreast at least 5-10 players? well i got none :S

So can someone give me some genuine advice on how to build a decent player base? preferably someone who has owned or owns a server with a good player base, and not some random person just writing for the sake of it ;d!

p.s. no hate responses xD SA-MP forums can be a harsh place at times :S!!


Oh also, Am i allowed to have my server IP in my signature? or would that count as advertising without 15+ rep? I dont wanna get banned you see xD i wanna try get 15+ rep to post a advert because everyone says SA-MP Forums gets a heap of players xD. So can like a admin or a long time samp forums member let me know if im allowed to put my IP in my signature? Thanks!.

I really don't have an answer for what attracts more players , but I can tell you what would immediately attract me.A script that is unique(Not mandatory scratch) with a lot of features that would just be instantly seen when I've joined the server. If you're trying to establish a heavy-rp server then you'll need not a lot of players but a good sum of players that enjoy the server and wouldn't leave it because of the script and dedication if the owner(you) to his server.

Thanks, i mean i got really great features on the server, but you gotta play abit to see them. And the problem is ik if i get players, keeping em shouldnt be too hard but the problem is i cant get players atm, like literally nobody is dropping by, and atm i havent got enough for a hosted TAB so i got to find alternative methods to get players.

If you have an empty server, you need to jump on it... You can't expect people to actually jump on an empty server.

Yeah i got a really good gamemode with pretty much everything you would want to see in a script, i mean theres only one thing i dislike that ima change or remove but other than that it should seem like a nice place for players to play.

However i do stay on it, and i barely get anyone. I mean i could just be jumping the gun because i only got it 2 days ago but, i mean still id expect maybe the odd 5 people to wonder onto my server?

Watch your logs, you'll find people will start finding it. 2 days is a short time to have it to be worried about people not joining it. Call your friends to join and play around with random spawned vehicles and "event" style stuff.


Just need to keep them on, and get more to join. (Hence why features to keep people on work. Just look at NGGs Giftbox situation (And please... Don't put one in...))


Being original is the priority in this sort of thing.


Also, Server Ad in the Server Ad section... With a well laid out plan of what your gamemode is about, and what the deal is with it.

The problem with a server ad is you need Rep higher than 15, im 2+ away from my target, i mean sounds simple to get 2+ but i seriously am struggling xD seems everyone that needs help ether got their question answered already or have a question that i dont know about.. xD
