I frankly see only one negative point to Windows 8.1 : dropped compatibility with DirectX 6 and thus with the old games (Half Life) (thanks to jujuv for this point, even if I experienced this with another game).

Except that point, this is a fantastic OS. So an update is not that needed.

What? You really thought that a company as big as Microsoft, with a product like Windows that occupies an enormous part of the market, would just stop? What?

Exactly what I was thinking. Despite some people not liking Windows 8/8.1, MS wouldn't stop. There really isn't any feasible replacement for Windows and MS knows this, they wouldn't want to stop making money.

Microsoft is making shit tons of money on Windows. Stopping windows development would be the worst idea ever.

Somewhat better start menu but I think I'd rather stick to Windows 7.

im on 8.1 now amazing doesn't support old games tho, windows 9 preview comes out in September but they have added a new feature to the activation wizard in order to activate windows u will need Hotmail or outlook email account and u will have to buy the key off the store as it doesn't show you your product key but I wreckon their will be some kind of regedit/timebomb/ emulator trick around this so im not going to upgrade..,..

I'm sticking to Windows 7. The newest releases don't impress.
