I frankly see only one negative point to Windows 8.1 : dropped compatibility with DirectX 6 and thus with the old games (Half Life) (thanks to jujuv for this point, even if I experienced this with another game).
Except that point, this is a fantastic OS. So an update is not that needed.

Microsoft is making shit tons of money on Windows. Stopping windows development would be the worst idea ever.

im on 8.1 now amazing doesn't support old games tho, windows 9 preview comes out in September but they have added a new feature to the activation wizard in order to activate windows u will need Hotmail or outlook email account and u will have to buy the key off the store as it doesn't show you your product key but I wreckon their will be some kind of regedit/timebomb/ emulator trick around this so im not going to upgrade..,..
