SA-MP for GTA Vice City Stories PC Edition?
#1

Hello. Theres a Total Convertion shaking up the GTAForums with over 1 million views.
It's called GTA Vice City Stories PC Edition and uses GTA:SA as core. The mod is at BETA 3 and they've incorporated an ingame updater so you may get regular updates.

I'm making up this post to see if theres a higher probability of a SA-MP adaptation (like it was made with GTA United, Ghostown etc) happening anytime soon.
I've tried contacting with the russian guy responsible for the adaptations but he seems to be inactive or something, so Im gonna let this post here so ppl can appreciate the beauty of this mod that totally asks for SA-MP to be in it.

"Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories PC Edition" is a Total Conversion Modification for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, bringing you a port that Rockstar never gave you. In this modification we will be converting the map, all the characters, vehicles and weapons from the ORIGINAL game files as well as porting the games weather system and atmosphere. In this modification will also be a set amount of storyline missions and side missions which will increase with each BETA release, other things will also be available such as a redesigned menu, new neon lights, HUD, radio stations, etc as well as an attempt to look through the history of the game and bring back some BETA designs as a special bonus for you. We have just released BETA3, codenamed "Blue Hesper", so be sure to give that a download and check it out! We hope you enjoy the mod and we will do our best to keep working on it. Just a reminder though, there's only a few of us actually working on this project so we do NOT know when or if we'll ever be finished but we will keep you all updated. In the meantime, enjoy our current work and spread your support! -VCS Team

Luten, HackMan (pre-BETA3), Silent, Ash, CP (post-BETA2)

The undone parts of the map use the default Vice City map.

In my opinion it clearly deserves a try on a SA-MP adaptation.
If you share the same opinion then I think this is the right topic to show your support... there is already one RP gamemode being scripted to work with this mod, and I can tell this RP gamemode is planning to use nearly all the functionalities SA-MP has to offer; it's a very ambitious project.
But until a SA-MP adaptation is released it won't happen :\

What can I say about this mod? I've been testing it thorougly and it's pretty stable.
I've only found stability issues (crashing) during certain missions because it's not yet fully done or fixed. I'd risk saying that 99% of the crashes are SCM mission related and as far as I know SCM is disabled in SA-MP so it cuts down a lot on crashing.
I'd also risk myself saying the stability found in this mod, which is just in BETA, is the same or better than in GTA United 1.2.
Feel free to test it yourself.

Nice thing, but eh, you will need to buy and download and blablabla shit, thats the worst thing.

What will they need to buy?

You don't need to buy anything, just have a default GTA San Andreas like you have to play with SA-MP.
This is a TC mod. Now let's start begging Kye to make a SA-MP adapt. xD this would totally rock srs.

Well you don't see the point of this? SA-MP can be more populary with this, if the Kalcor put more different things, like this mode, I support it.

Well, my mistake, thought that they have fully edited the whole thing, so that you need to re-download everything, got it now.

And yes, it would be a great idea.

Nah :P you just have to download the mod and install. It's very simple because they made an installer that copies the files it needs from your GTASA installation and then creates a folder by itself that install the whole thing.
So basically it makes a copy of your GTASA and mods it automatically, you dont have to do anything.

The download is around the 700MB. It might be a lot but it isn't and it's totally worth it.
I should remember people that whenever they want to play WoW or any other MMO that they dont have the CDs, they have to download 12GB and TERA is 40GB so yeah 700MB is small business.

GTA VCS wasn't even a very good game, it was alright but I think it was one of the worser GTA games. A multiplayer though might be quite good, I remember VCS had its advantages like the ability to grab people.

GTA:VCS is such a classic game (GTA:LCS is the best gta in my opinion (I grew up with it to))
This looks like so much fun! I can wait to try it out.

I still remember when there was loading screens when you entered a new city :P
Again, this looks like so much fricken fun. I hope they re-did the aiming system.

Tossing my 2 cents in by saying I fully support this 100% :P

been watching it on GTA forums for a long time and I got to say that its rather close to the original VCS (Had it on PSP and currently own it on PS2)

GTA on PSP (later ported to PS2) with a weak storyline and nothing that's particularly interesting except from the fact that you could now play a weaker variant of Vice City on your short lived handheld.

lol wow by your words it looks like we are talking about a minecraft version of Vice City.
Vice City Stories is better than Vice City in many ways, perhaps the only point that it doesnt beat VC is the storyline, but it's VC's prequel. Otherwise I wouldn't be making a post like this.

I dont know about that but from what I know about their team is that they are pretty solid and committed on this project. So until they get fed up I'm gonna be supporting it.
This project started around 2010 with different modders and then it was resumed by this "more organized" team keeping its founder.
I believe what's taking them longer to do is the SCM stuff involving missions and cutscenes.

Had a quick look. It looks interesting and also some of the modders of GTA VCS PCE are there :P
There were some high hopes towards GTA United 1.2 which could give the final touch on VC and III under the SA engine but it turned out to be just a map mod, not ignoring all the work they've had of course.

If they do better, it'll be ultimate proof that organisation and commitment (and innovation?) > top people

Wait, so there's no native PC version of GTA Vice City Stories? that's weird, all GTA's used to be released in consoles first, and then in PC some months later.

GTA:VCS and GTA:LCS was originally released for PSP, then moved onto PS2. They didn't bother with PC conversion I guess.

I think that happened because of an exclusivity contract with Sony.
One more reason for this mod to be epic :P
