You can't "cancel" a domain. A domain is registered with ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) for however long you bought it for. It will only be cancelled some time after the expiry date.
You can request a transfer of the domain to another registrar, but you will need to get hold of the EPP code for the domain. Some hosts have a button to request this code but some hosts require you to contact the support. The host is legally obliged to supply this code to you within 5 business days. If they don't, you may file a complaint at ICANN.
