Just to make this clear:
The pic that displays when you post is an avatar
The pic in your profile is a "Profile Picture"
These will need to be changed separately.
When uploading a new avatar, make sure it's in a JPG, GIF, or JPG format or something similar which is common, and make sure it's not outrageously sized (Make the avatar 80x80 and <9.8KB). If it's a bit bigger than this the upload will still work but the forum will automatically resize.

Btw, Ray was that really you that registered at alcatraz... forum? I thought it was you but it could have easily been someone else with that name.
