It's currently music festival season and with all the current festivals I was inspired to create my own, on SA:MP. I got thinking, and came up with the general idea of how it would pan out.
It would last over three days, starting Friday 28th and ending Sunday 30th, it would be based around roleplay, people join the server and they roleplay a character they choose at a music festival. The server would only be accessible for them three days. The event itself would be mapped somewhere in San Andreas, possibly around all the fields in Flint County or some other similar location.
Players could login on Friday, choose basic settings like the character's age and appearance, then they'd choose a method of arrival to the festival. They'd go in, and just roleplay realistically, at night time people would be able to setup a tent in designated spots and perhaps a camp fire if they wished, there would most likely be a sleep system where you could type /sleep, and your character would sleep for the night. Players can log off whilst their character is sleeping, and in the morning when they log back in, they can wake up again.
The whole place would be mapped with food venues, large stages, backstage areas and anything else you could find at a music festival. For the actual music, I would prepare pieces of audio already setup on a site such as kiwi6. Acts would just be members of staff for the server in an appropriate skin, with the artists name, dancing around, singing, rapping, playing instruments on stage whilst the audio is being streamed to the crowd.
Hopefully, a lot of people will see this as a great opportunity for some epic unique roleplay over the weekend, the thing is it will only work if a decent amount of people join, I'm thinking at least 100 players online to form realistically sized crowds. Of course, roleplay is the main focus of the event and the server would be staffed as any other roleplay server is, players incapable of being able to roleplay would be kicked as would other rule breakers.
But anyway I won't go into any technicalities at the moment, there's just a few things I need feedback on if I'm going to consider trying to make this idea possible.
Would you actually like this to happen?
Where would you like it to be located (a large area made up of fields)?
What music or what types of music would you want to be played?
Would you want to do it over the whole three days, or not?
Do you have any other recommendations?
