How To Install SA-MP Server Mods/Plugins
#1

I hope this is the correct forum as I truly have no idea on which forum it should be in, but here it goes:

I have been playing GTA San Andreas for a while now and have managed to get my own server up and running!
(Linux, CentOS) and for the life of me I cant understand where to install the server mods/plugins.

I am looking to install a mod/plugin such as https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=248711
and some others from https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=356383

If anyone could enlighten me on how to do this, that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to sa-mp forums As this isn't really a scripting question, I think this isn't the section for this, but I can't really say where you should post otherwise (maybe in General or Everything and Nothing). Anyway, to answer your question, the thing you want to install is called a Filterscript. Filterscripts go into the filterscripts directory in your server folder. In the server.cfg, you'll see a line with one word, 'filterscripts'. After that word, just do space, and type the name of the filterscript. The filterscript you refer to, is a more advanced, complicated side of sa-mp scripting, so I suggest you start off with the file based scripts, to learn the basics first (assuming you're still learning the basics). If you want to try it anyway, just read the instuctions in the topic you provided very carefully, as he explains exactly how to install it.

Put the files in the correct map

- Download the file in the attachment, and you'll see what he means with this. The files are already sorted in folders, named to the ones they have to be placed in in your server folder. I know I haven't really answered your question, but I think it's a good idea for you. If you need any more help, just ask!

((Also, what Y_Less said, be sure to check the wiki for information about callbacks, natives, e.t.c.))

Sorry that was for the first answer and I was trying to install https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=255513 while I was waiting for my account on the forums to be activated!
That is the one I found the most confusing.
Are you saying that the "filterscripts" and "pawno" etc folders are inside the map folders?

If you download the archive, there's a folder called V1.1 in the archive. If you go inside that folder, you'll see a folder called 'filterscripts'. The contents of that folder (which is located inside the archive), go into the filterscripts folder of your server.

What about all of the other files? and in regards to the other mod/plugin https://sampforum.blast.hk/showthread.php?tid=248711 where is the map folder?

Compare the server folder (contents: pawno, scriptfiles, filterscripts, gamemodes, plugins) with the archive (contents: scriptfiles, plugins, includes), and inside the V1.1 folder in the archive (include, filterscripts).
The things in the archive located in scriptfiles go into the scriptfiles directory in your server folder, the contents of include (from the archive) go in the pawno/include directory in your server folder. And, if you say map folder I think you're referring to the folder maps are stored in in MTA. In SA-MP it's a little different. You put CreateObject code directly in your Gamemode or Filterscript.

EDIT: ah, you mean the sentence

Put the files in the correct map

? He meant to use the word 'directory' or 'folder'. He's from Belgium, and there they say 'map', which means 'folder' or 'directory' in English.

In regards to the map folder, I thought that was what the [MV]_cPanel one said, but I look in my server files and the only ones that are there are filterscripts, gamemodes, inlcude, npcmodes, scriptfiles, .server.cfg.swp, announce, LICENSE, README, samp-npc, samp03svr, server.cfg and server_log.txt there is no "pawno" and "plugins" I believe that is why I am so confused!
And where are the contents of "Source" supposed to go in the V1.1 archive?

Source is the .pwn, which you can place in the filterscripts folder. If you need to change anything, you'll need to open the .pwn, edit whatever needed, then compile it. This has to be done on your Windows computer, with the pawn compiler provided in the windows server package. If you don't know how that works, check out the basic scripting tutorials, they'll really help you.

Back to the [MV]_cPanel I need to put the:
filterscripts> filterscripts folder
scriptfiles> scriptfiles folder correct?

but what about the plugins and pawno as there are no server folders with these names

the contents of the include folder, located in pawno, go into the include folder in your server directory. If it doesn't exist, skip this step. The plugins go into the plugins folder in your server directory, don't forget to add the plugins in the server.cfg. You're correct about filterscripts > filterscripts and scriptfiles > scriptfiles.
