Compatibility mode problems
#1

Hey there, I'm back on SA-MP.

As I am just trying to get rid of that cursor bug where you can't move your mouse in fullscreen on Windows 7 I tried to use different compatibility modes and got to Windows XP SP3.
When I load up the game and the client in XP SP3 mode I recieve that crash when the loading bar with the SA-MP logo as reached the end:

EDIT: I tested following compatibility modes ...
  • Windows NT 4.0
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP (SP2, SP3)
  • Windows Server 2003, 2008
  • Windows Vista (bare, SP1, SP2)
... and crashed

The only compatibility mode it works in is "Windows 98/ME" where the only midget problem is, that the sa-mp logo (to get to the credits) looks like this:

Both crashes seem to occur when there's a high object load around spawn.

Remember that your default GTA San Andreas User Files will move folders if you change compatibility (from user to public or the other way around). Just copy-paste them.
You'll get the mouse bug more, but the crashes disappear. I only get the mouse bug 1 out of 3 times - and never when I just start the game

I wonder why that mouse bug happens as I didn't have that problem on Windows Vista.
Just wanted to report those uncompatibilities here tho.

You could try a mod I created to solve the problem with the mouse, been using it for about 3 months and completely forgot about this bug until I saw it in this topic not sure if the problem I was having is the same one, as it would only make the mouse not working after you paused.

The mouse bug happens when your very not lagging :P
Try setting processor affinity of the gta-sa.exe process to the very last processor only.
That should work.

If that doesn't works, try rendering a HQ video. Always works for me

If you close explorer.exe down using task manager and then start San Andreas. It will work fine without any mouse bug.

You probably already knew this, but it wasn't mentioned

force-quitting a process is never good, especially not explorer.exe. And if you don't know how to restart it, it'll take a while before you find out how to shut down your PC.

Playing in window mode (Left.Alt + ENTER) fixed my mouse desync problems.. Try it..

Window mode is very useful:
- Removes Alt + Tab crash
- You can see new skype messages
- You can read newbie help on server forums etc.

Also Iґm using lower screen resolution 1024 * 600 => more space for other programs
