Hardware- Own Storage Cloud.

Hello, I have a question,

I think youall know about dropbox, ****** drive ect.
Now what I want is the basicly like this but now i want to host it at my own home, not my own pc.
So are there or how do you call it, a drive that you should connect to the network and is accessable from everywhere (not only from your home network), so it's like ****** drive, you can access the files on this drive everywhere, if this drive is running, I don't want this drive linked with my home pc, because I don't the power of my pc is off when I'm not home, If somebody need more explaination tell me.

Basically it's a huge, remote server which people are allocated spots.

You can do it yourself by using FTP with a dedicated server/VPS. - But what's the point when ****** Drive/SkyCloud are available for free, and more reliable?

Well first of all I won't do it at m dedicated server, but if you mean create a dedicated server at home, I also won't do that, because it makes noice and should be powered 24/7, so I just want to connect a extern drive to my router or something, and I need it because ****** Drive/ Skycloud ect, don't have enough space, and I'm not going to pay for it each month, also I don't trust it to have a free license, because they can terminate your account at any time without a reason... if they like to.

So I saw something like a HDD network cloud, but it says things about home network ect, I have to be sure it's also accessable from everywhere.

I really dont like that "cloud" term. The idea behind it is nothing new at all, but already exists for ages. Just because it got a fresh name and some people talk about how cool it is, its not really needed.
Independent from that cloud, you can use a network hdd, forward the ftp port 21 to it, and enable ftp access in its settings, then you can access it via the internet.
Another solution would be getting a normal usb drive (or just an usb stick if you dont need terabytes), and hook it to a raspberry pi, or similars. The raspberry is a small ARM board that can run linux, makes no noise at all, and just eats 4-5W (costs about 30$). However you need basic knowledge of how to set it up and run a ftp server on it. The advantage of this is that you got a whole computer and can do more than just FTP with it, and itseven cheaper than a network drive (~90Ђ vs 130Ђ for 1TB).

If you want something called "cloud" get a server or Raspberry PI with USB HDDs and install OwnCloud on it (http://owncloud.org/).
But the best for you would be a NAS. Look for QNAP or Synology which are the best NAS brands. If you want to build you NAS yourself, buy some hardware and use FreeNAS (BSD based).

Ps: I agree with Mauzen for the cloud term, it's just some kind of marketing term invented by these people wearing ties

So basically what you're asking for is a place to store your pirated movies so that any computer in your house can access them

Do what I do, setup a free web host with a free domain, then get its ftp details go to start>computer right click and add a network. Put in the ftp crap and there you go! Just store it on the web host and you can kinda acess it from your pc
