The Wii U
#1

(Yes, I love Nintendo's games, Ok?)

Nintendo's new console, the Wii U, is on it's way to face the world. And even though people are afraid it's going to become a Wii-like situatin: with hardly no good 3rd paty games, I think it will change. Why?
Yes, I do think the Wii U will be weaker then the next PS and XBOX, but I doubt the difference will be as big as this generation. Also, according to some articles from long ago, the problem wasn't sheer power, but the hardware of the ol' Wii didn't support some features which made porting a pain in the *ss.

Why am I excited for the Wii U?

First of all, there's the controller.

Even though some may find it gimmicky, I find it a nice approach at something new. Downside: uptill now, the system is only know to be able to support up to 2 of these tablets, and 4 'other controllers'. (This includes Wii-motes, or their new pro controller)

I also like the idea of asymmetrical multiplayer.

Then, there's games. Wii's line-up was, apart from most 1st party games, a bit weak. But with the Wii U, quite afew 3rd parties (especially Ubisoft) are excited to work with the console.
And I must say, this is the first time that I've been excited for as much as 4(maybe more) games in the launch window.

Here are a few examples of games launching together with or shortly after the Wii U:

New Super Mario Bros.: U (Expected to be a system seller by some)

Darksiders 2NOT FOR THE YOUNGER ONES!

And MANY more games are coming. So, did I get anyone excited yet?

Wii is for 10 year olds, no offence.

I don't even play PS3/Xbox anymore, but i'd never drop down to a Wii. Seriously Wii's are only for pissing around while you have old family round / gathering, christmas dinner w/e .

Please say that again after you've watched ZombiU's trailer.

I personally don't like the Wii, it just doesn't have that feel for me.
I have a PS3 but I barely use it.
I am mostly a PC gamer but this Wii U thing look like it might be pretty successful.

I'm looking forward to the wii u now too, now that i know the controller is just the controller, not the whole thing! (eh, a fkn tablet? why do i want a nintendo tablet?!)

We have 2 DS, a SNES, N64 and a Wii in the house, I've no use for a PS3 or XBOX as i have a PC Whereas the original games you get from and for nintendo are often available only on that format.

So a Wii U will definately be on my shopping list after the initial launch prices die down a bit.

I find the Xbox controller too big, how would this controller work out? I'll just assume it would just be annoying to hold it.

i find the idea actually quite silly. It won't sell as much as people will think it will.

I might buy it, then return it a week later.
