Tell that to the IBM guy who rejected Steve Wozinak's awesome idea. The one which without it, our lifes would be a -lot- different.

I doubt this will replace smartphones. People dont like to talk to themselves, and having a computerlistener wont change that.

I dont see this concept becoming reality nor not in these times.
Some guy claims that he already made one himself in some weeks, not in years. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33wOKBMA2QA[/ame]
The concept behind it is too simple to be a fake.

****** his name and find out he IS a specialist for augmented reality: http://www.willpowell.co.uk/

Also this isnt something extremely complicated, as he mostly took existing parts and put them together:
speech recognition: exists for 20 years
3d monitor glasses: like 10 years old (he simply uses webcams and monitors, and not that strange microthingy ****** announced)
small enough hardware: see any actual computer
Connect all that in a HUD overlay software: not harder than creating some random smartphone app.

So all in all those glasses arent an innovation, just another use of today's possibilities.

Evidently, you didn't pick up on the heavy sarcasm that I was trying to convey in that post. Here, I'll do this for some clarification:

Oh please, look around, the majority of the world is struggling to survive. Not to mention the thousands of people dying daily from hunger and other easily avoided deaths. We need an invention to save those people, not stupid useless crap like this...
How do those people have anything to do with what ****** is doing? So you expect a private company to create a system or technology to give water and food to people that are unfortunately not able to get it? Oh, and ****** isn't doing something special? I guess this means that a user controlled HUD with real time doesn't mean anything?

Seriously, there is no need to fake something that can be realized that easy and so risking ones reputation as software engineer, as he doesnt seem to be stupid and so should know that fakes will be revealed like 99% sure.

Whatever, sceptics should at least note that if this is a fake, it is way more realistic than ******s demo. ****** glasses require you to look up in order to see anything, so it isnt the often described "terminator feeling". There isnt any display in your direct field of view, unless you hang down your head all day while walking.

Send me like 300$ for the hardware and ill also build one.

You dont learn how to assemble those kind of glasses on a software engineering, its not more realistic than ****** one, ****** glasses requiere you to look up because its not a whole glass covering your eye, its a little peace of glass over your right eye.

You cant build it because you got no idea about it,

Since you're just asking for an honest opinion and as long as people just consider this post an opinion, I would rather see myself wearing glasses. I am not wearing glasses as of now although the doctors recommended me to but I just don't see myself embracing glasses but if it were about my preference, I would, saying again, see myself watching glasses unless they have something really really special down there.

Well, I'm not sure if I would really use one (in near future).

BUT it's an awesome development in technology. A few years ago everyone would have said "This is available in 2020 or later, not affordable for 'normal' ppl". Now look, they are planning to start it in 2013 (for less than $1500!).

Like lolumadd_ said, once it's socially accepted, it won't look weird and the ppl thinking its sh!t will change their mind very quickly.
