The external IP is only to other guys that wish to join.

Well....try getting a static ip by calling your internet provider or following the rules at FAQ stickey in this section....

Did you port forward correctly? http://portforward.com/ for more help with your model. Did you configure server.cfg correctly? If 2 of these are done correctly, I see no problem.
