Fps drops
#1

Hello, Im getting annoyed by my fps drops.
I have set my limit at 43 and it stays on 43 almost all the time. It shifts from 43-39 on some server (ex. ng-rp, gta sa-rp) Theres also servers where i feel like im having 25fps but still have 43. the fps wont move from 43 on gamerX and thats one of the most populated servers. I also have friends with fairly good computers, they also have this problem. I was wondering if this could be caused by something else than my computer.

Spec:
i7 920
gtx 285
4gb ram

Connection:
Download 5mbit
Upload 0.8mbit

I use cpu 0-7 not sure what this game supports. If anyone knows, let me know.

I assume you don't have any background programs running? If so, that might be the server's problem from having too much vehicles in a streamed range, objects andor 3DTextLabels.

But he's PC is more than better for SA-MP... maybe may be a client bug?

Do the basic steps for enhancing your computers performance:
- Delete all other running programs (especially torrent downloads)
- Set the affinity for gta_sa.exe to both processors (Task Manager > Processes > Right-Click > Set Affinity > Both Cores)

And some more that I cannot honestly think of right now. All that turkey is getting to my head

I have tried from 1 "thread" to 8 "threads" I usually play with all 8, not sure if all 8 works for san andreas tho.
Dont know if its really called "threads" but I guess you know what I mean. Its not often I run torrent at the same time so that cant be the problem.
But thanks for the answer.

I think that San Andreas doesn't support multi-core CPU's and Hyper Threaded CPU's... did you try with task manager to see the CPU usage?

It does - I have to use multi-cores or one of my cores overheats, which is a real hassle because I have to set the affinity before I go in-game each time. Very annoying when testing scripts.

While you're in-game check some of the outputs. What percentages is the RAM and CPU running at? Are you using any mods? It may take longer for them to read from gta3.img, which could cause a little of the drops.

Also does this occur in only one server? If so, it may be that server was created very inefficiently. However, I doubt anyone is THAT terrible.

Well, all the cores are in the same proccesor, so a single core won't overheat, what can overheat is the hole proccesor, but never a single core.

You can't check the running percentage of a RAM, what you can check is the ussage in MB, also, a very inefficienttly server won't cause graphical lags, becouse it has nothing to do with this problem. (A bad scripted server can cause network lag, not graphical lag.)
