Need help on my Windows Vista PC
#1

hey guys, Recently some virus got into my little brother's PC and pretty much fucked everything up.
Since there is a program calld Empowering Technology Handling the reinstalls and everything. And the virus fucked it up.

IF you have Empowering Technology, and Windows Vista, Then please go to C:/Acer/Empowering Technology, scroll down and find the hardDisk.dll. Please be so kind to upload it here So i can reinstall the PC and get rid of the virus..

Thanks.

If you are still able to open things up, I would try using this program. It will clean your computer of viruses in no-time!

THats the problem, it also got to system restore...

@Realcop:
Well, thats also a problem, since the virus is set into several Vista standard programs.
Last time when I closed the process it used, I got a Blue screen Of Death...

Grim_ has an issue a month or so ago, but it was because of porn I think - not him, his bro. Is there a lot of important files on your brothers computer? If not, just do a reformat it'll take 10x less time then trying to get rid of the virus.

You could always do that, but why spend money when it's not necessary? I'd love to trash my computer and purchase some parts so I can build my own, but...why? This one works fine, I spend too much time on the PC already, not to mention having a better performing computer for me to do more. Anyways...

Try running "Spybot Search & Destroy", it'll do the trick.

Did u get a backup cd when buying the computer then format your computer, if not try googling the backup cd. Usually you get a backup cd from any acer computer you purchase (except netbooks) goodluck fixing the computer

Formatting aka Reinstalling does not work since the whole reinstall/format program doing it, Is fucked up by the Virus.

You just don't know how to do it... You need to "boot your computer via the Windows disk" which will allow you to format your HDD and reinstall.
