Why Not To Use Server FFS
#1

I my self have used two different server hosts the first being serverhex hosting and the second being serverffs.
I was with serverhex for about 5 months and never had a problem with my game mode restarting nor did I have any problems with getting support .I decided to change to serverffs after alot of players and posts on the forums recommended it saying the support is better and the server will run smoother well I been with serverffs now sense November of 2009 and its been hell the hole time. 1 its way more expensive then any other hosting company the support you will get will be not help in anyway as the support tells you what you want to here or will make something up as you will see in some of my support tickets below not only that I have had a cpu problem from the day I started with serverffs and they restart the server saying its using to much cpu my first ticket woet mistaken me for a 3 year old and tried to tell me they dont monitor cpu usage on the server hahahaha anyways heres is some screen shots of some of my support tickets and Im just not happy im getting dicked around when im spending money I know every one has there own opinion and I also no some people get really good service I just think woet got something against me due to roomers that were spread and im not happy im paying good money to get poor service.

Yeah that's total BS lies about CPU from support. Whats this then?

Wed Mar 31 20:34:41 CEST 2010 :: Server is using excessive CPU, please optimize your gamemode.

Wed Mar 31 20:47:47 CEST 2010 :: Server is using excessive CPU, please optimize your gamemode.

etc.

Also the server doers restart when this happens.

I have exactly 33990 crashes since November which is pretty insane. I do have to admit most of it was most likely my fault.

I know I was not the only one I just wanted a bit of support its just not there for the prices you pay and all what people say its cracked up to be like come on i had no filter scripts loaded no plugins loaded and tried my gamemode that was 14000 line to 1500 thats a huge difference and considering 300 of the lines was a stock sscanf and 200 lines a car command and 4 admin commands that leavs a 800 line admin system with dini causing the server to run 30%cpu with 20 players thats a joke

On their main page is says they use quad dual-cores or something. I don't think it applies to SA:MP servers. I also moved from ServerHex but it was because our server got crashed by Netzeek and it crashed our server and it took down the whole site and all other servers. It does not seem to have great security... I guess that's one thing ServerFFS lives up to.

there security is some what similar to serverhex if im not mistaken there both a type of a firewall that your able to enter a ip and it blocks it but in my case where iwas getting bot attacks they were able to change there ip so i was not able to keep entering ip`s quick enough and when i submitted a ticket i was pretty much brushed off

I also get that a lot. I think it's useful. I can track when it's using CPU the most (Peak times) and my next script version for server I script (and now own o.o) is fixing past coders un-optimized coding.

Overall why are people complaining? I don't get bad service, I get exactly what I pay for. There's NOTHING wrong with ServerFFS, common sense TENDS to help if you plan on running a server or a community.

Yea but explain this to me, why would the server spike to 20% CPU usage because of NO filterscripts, NO plugins, No Nothing except for a 1000 line admin system? Something doesnt add up there.

Dude, I could probably make a 10 line code that does that. It depends what your admin system has, and how well coded it is and how optimized it is.

If you don't like the service then why do you use the company?

It is your gamemode or filterscript...

End of story.

Well i am in the process of buying a dedicated server to run my server on The reason for the post is to show how in the support i got mixed and matched answers and little to no help when it come to the attacks like I said every one has there own say I say its over rated and I had a poor experience there

It isn't ServerFFS causing the problem, its your game-mode or filter-script. I am currently hosting with ServerFFS and have been for about 3 months, I enjoy using it. I don't see what your complaint it. Sure, its expensive, but everything is much easier to setup and use. I like the sub-accounts feature and the fact MySQL is easy to use. I also have a server with True:Serve, they don't have any issues either...

It says you're server is using too much CPU and you need to optimize your gamemode, this dosent have anything to do with ServerFFS maybe you shouldnt be taking filterscripts/gamemodes from SA-MP forums and pasteing them into your gamemodes and actually make something you're self and read some tutorials from YSI and etc, There's a hole variety on CPU issues such as Filterscripts, Plugins, Timers, You're command processor and yes i mean [/command] isnt so effiecent (SA-MP's one, I suggest Zcmd and use Scannf), Also OnPlayerUpdate can cause lag and for a fact I know alot of scripts are using OnPlayerUpdate every second to save accounts when it should just save on OnPlayerDisconnect, Also functions in your Timers can be causing lag when they could be using in forwards SA-MP gives you.

From what I hear serverFFS lacks proper management, besides that though it seems to be a pretty solid and consistent service.

If your not happy with a host, either go with another one or use a dedicated server / VPS

No, Partyserver has been having this issue for a while, which is also hosted by serverFFS. We just did an experiment on Partyserver. We ran a barebone script that came with the SA:MP 0.1 server package (sftdm) - and it nothing changed. Still massive CPU spikes. The cause could be any number of issues which we're investigating as we speak. Do NOT dismiss this as a poorly optimized game mode, as our tests have proven otherwise - so far. There is still testing to do though.

(I'm not speaking on Woet's behalf, I'm speaking as a server owner/beta team member trying to figure out what's causing the high CPU usage).

Umm then why is this being said in the ServerFFS log that only shows crashes and restarts? Its a ServerFFS only crash log...

You're script is causing ServerFFS to do this.
