Server not getting detected.
#1

Hello !
I hosted a server on LAN with the following config file :
echo Executing Server Config...
lanmode 1
rcon_password 12345
maxplayers 50
port 7777
hostname SA-MP 0.3 Server
gamemode0 grandlarc 1
filterscripts base gl_actions gl_property gl_realtime
announce 0
query 1
weburl www.sa-mp.com
maxnpc 10
onfoot_rate 40
incar_rate 40
weapon_rate 40
stream_distance 300.0
stream_rate 1000

Only I can connect to it. Others in the network cant even retrieve info from it. I have now tried 3 other computers on the network. All of them had their firewalls turned off. Even the server PC does not have any firewall. I have also tried Different ports and with lanmode 0/1 and announce 0/1 . What could be the problem ?

You probably need to portforward your ports. Take a look at www.portforward.com

1. Set your announce to 1.
2. Make sure you have opened a TCP/UDP port. Not just a TCP port.
3. You will need to check your ports now... Go here, and download this file. (http://www.portforward.com/store/PFPortChecker.exe)

3a. This tool is very simple to use. Just download, and install. Then open it up.
3b. Enter your port number, (yours is 7777 according to your "server.cfg" file).
3c. Check the TCP port first. Then the UDP port. (You should open the program and know basically how to work it.)

If your tests come back as "Your Port is Open", you should be good. If not, come back and let me know.

Good luck!

I cant use that tool because of the heavy restrictions put by the proxy (university). However CS and AOE work seamlessly so LAN gaming is not a problem here. Is Portforwarding required even when playing on LAN ?

Yes, because portforwarding is how your server gets recognized. Do you have a proxy? I DONT know for sure, but that COULD be a problem, but I would dobut it... Lets see... Just try portforwarding, and don't check it with any tool. Just set it up. Then try turning on the server. What is your IP btw?
