Buying a new PC
#1

Hey all,

It's about time I get off this old piece of shit so I've put together a build which I think will meet the standards for my own personal use. I just want opinions, and what you think I should/could change to make this better. What I use my PC for - well too many things. I watch movies, listen to music, video editing, games (L4D, Half Life 2 - Steam games in general) and I'm hoping this would be able to handle the latest games such as MW2 and GTA:IV.

These are links to the shop which I will possibly be buying from. I wasn't all that interested in buying good parts for dirt off of eBay. I just rather know that they are brand new and are good quality.

I've got a monitor, case and operating system sorted as well. But I also have a question regarding the operating system. What exactly is the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit? I've heard that it has something to do with the RAM? And what would you recommend I take for this sort of build?

My budget is around $1,400 AUD so this fits nicely in that price range.

For those wondering, the total cost of all these parts + monitor, case, and operating system is $1,286 AUD

Cheers!

To answer your question regarding the OS bit:

The 32 bit (x86) version can only handle around 3 GB thus not giving you the full power of its RAM.
The 64 Bit (x64) version on the other hand supports every RAM memory placed in your motherboard, giving you the full power.

There is no reason to take a 32bit OS over a 64bit OS so yeah... you better get the 64bit one.
