I Co_Own a server and i want to learn tips on how to really draw players into the server.I mean our GM is GREAT! but i don't know how i can call up players to come and play. How to attract them would be the right saying.I want to know special tricks from BIG sever owners to tell me or even PM how they do it, how they achieve a mass amount of players in their servers. You could name me the top five thing to do.

Well, get a more original name, there's about 20 'Call of duty" servers in SA:MP, and patience is virtue, you can't run your server from a week to a month and expect to get players, some are lucky, others aren't, you'll have to wait quite a few months for the playerbase to kick in.

Nothing becomes famous overnight. It will take quite a while for your sever to acquire a decent active player base. But I do have some tips for you, based on past experience and I guess what I would like to see in a server.
• A dedicated admin team - what I mean by this is don't be a prick to your players, be nice in every way possible, if they do something wrong, don't be harsh and annoy the shit out of them by picking on them or kicking them constantly. Do not ridicule players, be appreciative that they have chosen your server to play on.
• Involve your players with community events - get them involved, allow them to feel more accepted, I can guarantee this will make them come back over and over.
• Make your server look attractive - as I understand, you have a great script, and I'm sure that's true. But the number 1 way for your server to attract players is to be creative and original. Consider hiring someone who has excellent skills in photoshop and are willing to make you an advertisement/signature or maybe even a video that looks great and displays your server's unique qualities. Use this to publish your server in the server advertisement section.
• Never, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, NEVER ask your players to invite - it's annoying and plain stupid and makes your server look unprofessional. This creates the impression that you are slack and have put little effort into your server - that probably made no sense what so ever, but believe me, it has made me /q ALOT of servers.
But I guess from all this, a great community is always the best. Make your server look great, and I'm sure you'll have players in no time! Don't be an asshole to your players and CAREFULLY select your admin team. I would recommend employing yourself as head admin until people can prove themselves as trustworthy and respectful, therefore you should make them the lowest level admin possible.
Also, I have to emphasise that you should not take 5 minutes of your time creating a server. A decent server takes plenty of effort and motivation to establish.
Wish you the best of luck with your server! I might drop in sometime. Hope I helped.

Well I think I gained my players because at the time there was either 0 or 1 other Call of Duty servers, so I was an original at the time. I started my server with a budget of $60 so I had enough money for hosted tab.
#1: Hosted tab definitely gave me a bigger player count.
Advantages: Large player ammount.
Disadvantages: Brings A LOT of unwanted hackers and attacks.
#2: Server Title
Make it look different and unique. Try to add different symbols and unique characters to your title. If you cant fit your imagination on one title, in your script under a timer use rcon functions to change your title every xxxx milliseconds. This way you can bring in different people by the different titles. If they dont like the first title, they may like the second.
#3: Unique GameMode
There is a reason why all servers that you godfather and godfather edits usually have 0 players. It is overused and it is not unique, everyone has it.
#4: A Good GameMode and Forums
No one wants to play on a crappy server.
Also no one wants to be on a crappy forums.
#5: Good Staff
People get annoyed when they get kicked for stupid reasons. This causes in attacks and he might come back as a hacker.
This is a big world, everyone is different, a lot of people are sensitive.
Take cmg4life as an example. He scripted for my server for a bit. We were both in meh server playing. And I used an admin command ( /explode ) on him. He went ape shit, cried a bit then stole my gamemode and started to make his own server with it. Luckily his computer broke and he lost my gamemode and he stopped his server.
#6: Listen To Your Players
When someone in your server says "Change the time" or "Change the weather" try to do that to make him happy.
#7: Let Your Players Speak Out
Have a suggestion board on your forums to let your players give ideas. This makes them feel welcome and that they mean something to the server; especially when you do script that idea he gave.
#8: Advertise
Make advertisements on the samp forum ( correct board pl0x ) and try to post your game-monitor in your signature on all the forums you are active on. If you do reach high players, people will see that. Since you have high players at that momment, more will come, then more, and more and soon you will have a lot.
Once you have a large ammount of players now all you have to do is encourage them to stay and be active on your forums.
Wohla! You just gained a regular player.
Have fun with your server dude!
Regards,
Lolumadd - Owner of the COD5 server.

To start, you need to ask yourself why you're trying to run a server, there's already thousands in the masterlists and you will need to offer something unique or substantially better than anyone else before you'll get any real number of players. Next, this thread is full of people who've never run a popular server, they're just saying what they THINK may get you a lot of players, not what might actually work. You don't need the hosted tab to get players to your server, but it will get you more players and has its downsides, how do you think people used to get players when there was no hosted tab? There are only 2 things i'd recommend, a nice gamemode (bugfree, unique features, stuff that players actually like) and a reasonable host, don't expect to be able to create a nice gamemode in anything under a few weeks or host 500 players on your dad's cable modem.
