I think it's time we all move on to other games. I mean, it's 2010, GTA SA was released for PC in 2005
|
Do you not watch movies that were made earlier than 2005?
...Exactly my point.

I read somewhere that the only dev. of SA-MP is Kye.. There is no "SA-MP team" I guess.. So if some mods reads ideas topic that doesn't mean that Kye reads it..
Off: That was not fun that my post was deleted. This one will be deleted too? Maybe I deserve a warning also?

I was going to make a topic about this :P
Kye will continue with 0.3b development! I think it will take a year to make because maybe there are more functions then ever had in any SA-MP versions!

The answer is simple, Kye should earn more money from SA-MP. I believe it would keep him pretty well motivated. The website could offer paid services for server owners. It could also contain advertisments. The server browser is a possible huge money source too.
I don't care, it may contain more advertisments than content if it kept SA-MP going.

144 * 10 = 1440 Euros.
Quite a lot of money from the hosted tab list alone.

There have always been costs associated with maintaining SA-MP services and those costs never take in to account the time spent maintaining and protecting these services from attack.
Originally the SA-MP server lists were going to be provided by GameSpy - but it literally took months to get in contact with a manager there and, by that time, we'd already developed our own server list system.

I don't know this for a fact, I don't consider it any of my business, but I'm pretty sure there are single SA-MP servers that take in more money (mostly through donations) than the SA-MP services do. They also started doing it long before the SA-MP hosted list existed.

I know.. this is gonna be deleted too.. |
On Topic:
Using logic i think its safe to say that development will continue. Why would kye put lots of work into this new forum if he didnt plan on continuing development. Not only that but if i am correct, vBulletin costs around $200. Why would someone spend their hard earned money, and valuable time on a forum of a discontinued project? Its not logical at all :P.

Finally, We got an on topic answer

It's old version, which you can't even buy anymore, so someone just had one license and lent it for SA:MP forum probably.

No money will ever be accepted for the SA-MP client software - since it would require an agreement with Rockstar Games. |
Even if it was required, wouldn't it be worth it to at least try to make the agreement?

Even though samp.exe does not have anything to do with modifying the game? It doesn't even have to contain the full name of San Andreas, and just SA-MP instead.

on the other hand, the city, San Andreas can be used by any means necessary. As it is a place, not an object.
So if you wanted, you could register and sell " SA-MP" as "San Andreas Multi-player"
But since the game is using Rockstar Gaming's work, you would have to give major credit to the corporation and talk with Rockstar Gaming about using their work.
As long as you don't sell SA-MP in a store, they should be ok with it. They are very nice people..... typically. =D
My dad works in the major corporation business... that's how i know these things. lol

I've been thinking about this too, I'd like to know if they're going to keep developing SA-MP and maybe get it to work for 1.01 of GTA:SA for the screen resolutions sakes.
