What is the difference between RolePlay and RPG?
#1

I saw in some topic that people said 'we've changed from roleplay to RPG'.
I always thought roleplay and RPG were the same things, so can anybody tell me what's the difference between them?
Thanks

It's pretty much the same thing. The main difference between the two in SA-MP is that RP server actually have proper characters and everything has a purpose, and people that can send proper sentences to the game chat.

Just saying.

Roleplay(defenition from wiki):

A role-playing game is a game in which the participants assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create stories. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, they may improvise freely; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the games.

RPG:

`

Nah joking, RPG ( Role Play Gaming ) and Role Play are pratically the same.

The Topic your referring to is this: http://forum.sa-mp.com/index.php?topic=153021.0

And from what Wiki Defines it, and from what i can 'see' the biggest difference between RPG & RP is the 'Action' RPG seems to have more action based to it, while RP seems to have very strict rules to it.

Im not trying to be offensive toward any server, but one seriously gets tired of the definition revamps.
The problem with it is...if enough people revamp a definition, it will eventually make it into 'Common Usage'

What i mean by that is, take the word ( Ain't ). 30 years ago, you would have been ridiculed for using such a word. Now, you'll actually find it in most modern English dictionaries. Thank god SAMP is probably a 2 out of 10 in popularity, so i dont believe there are enough gamers in the environmental to re-write the 'Role Play' definition.

Dutch, i DO want to thank you for taking the time, and understanding exactly what type of server you are operating. I fell you should be rewarded for such efforts, so if you provide me with a 496 X 200 Banner, ill make sure it gets posted around to a few websites.

I personally think RPG is better than RP cuz RPG isnt as strict and is more free.
