Option to modifiy the new skin-ids clientsided
#1

Is there an option or will there be an option to modify the new skin ids on the clientside?
Like if a server decides to use some skin on ID 25000, you are downloading it when you connect to the server but you dont like how it looks, will it be possible to replace this skin on your side?
Maybe by adding the new files with the same name to custom.img or using the skin-id as name.
So 25000.dff and 25000.txd would replace the serversided model on your machine.

You got it a bit wrong:

Currently the client stores the server models in a folder with the IP. So, if server A at 127.0.0.1 and server B at 127.0.0.2 have both 25000.txd and 25000.dff, it won't matter since they are on different folders.

Server A's skin would be stored at GTA San Andreas User Files/SAMP/cache/127.0.0.1 while Server B's skins will be at GTA San Andreas User Files/SAMP/cache/127.0.0.2

I Hope I got it clear for you

Thats not what i mean
Some people like to fill their whole game with these HQ skins.
I would like to use the new skin-ids for LQ skins which fit with the whole GTA atmosphere.
Would there be an option for the players mentioned above to replace those skins which I offer them?

I imagine using modloader will still work and overwrite them. I haven't taken too much of a look at the RC yet, but you should be able to just use the same dff/txd names.

no, if the model is diffrent from that which server want to download to you, the old one will be replaced with server model.

Yes you can replace it..

You should rename the .dff .txd you want into the CRC id on cache folder.

something like 0x703D930.dff

the server only check the CRC name. so it will works fine...
