SA-MP won't launch because of resolution?
#1

Hi

I'm having this strange problem, where as I can not connect to any server, by otherwords: the client won't launch the GTA_SA.exe at all.

This is strange, because when I set the resolution to 1920x1080x16, instead of 1920x1080x32 (Notice the 16 and 32bit), it suddenly starts working normally again.

Before anyone goes like "Why the fuck do you want it in 32-bit then", it's because I'm using a mod that can not be loaded by playing in the 16-bit resolution.

Anyone experienced this before? Deleting the gta_sa.set files in documents temporary solves this, I can set the resolution to 32-bit in-game, but as soon as I exit and try to connect to a server again, it won't start the game at all.

Thank you in advance for any helpful comment.

The mod is probably the problem.

SA-MP and mods never went well together. You can try to run the game in a different resolution other than your native but it sounds as if problem originates from the mod. Perhaps you installed an old version of the mod?

I got it working again. Really really odd.. I deleted the gta_sa.set file, to be atleast able to get in the game again, and changed the resolution to the second highest one, with 32-bit of course. After relogging, I was surprised that it did not crash while it was halfway through loading.. I then set the resolution back to the highest, and guess what, the client would actually load the game instead of doing absolutely nothing.

I would thank you for the replies, although these answer that mods and sa-mp don't work together in harmony is not ALWAYS the case, since the client would NOT launch the game at all on a 32-bit 1920x1080 resolution, even if the mod was removed. If I can conclude to something, then it is that people always suggest to reinstall the game, or even reset the operating system, while all of that is not even really necessary.

This glitch, or bug, whatever you prefer, is common. It happens a lot for no reason, and one suggested solution that seems to work to at least be able to enter game through the client, is to delete the gta_sa.set file located in the GTA San Andreas User files.

I do not know the root cause of this problem, the reason why the SA-MP client refuses or is unable to launch the game at the highest screen resolution (in my case), remains uncovered.

Please let this thread be an example for anyone who is having the same issue, if you're tired of reinstalling the game, or people telling you to remove your mods or to format your operating system.. try to tweak the settings of your game to stable configuration, and continue until you have reached the desired settings.

And for the sa-mp devs, a majority of people would appreciate it if you could at least take a look on this issue, or provide detailed info about how to fix this.
