Little help with SA:MP Trailer
#1

Hi guys,

Considering I'm planning to create a SA:MP trailer for a server. I would really appreciate if someone can help me giving me suggestions with this things:

- A software to create voices (text-to-speech), free one.
- Tips to make a trailer
- Useful tools to record in-game (I'm using dxtory (lagarith lossless codec) and the CLEO camera hack.
- I'm using sony vegas for the video editing. Not going to use After Effects, since my computer is not good for it.

If you have any recommendation, please, I will thank you.
Regards.

Free TTS software : http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
Wouldn't quite recommend them, all voices sound robotic.
Instead, if you have a microphone, use voice changers. I suggest MorphVOX http://www.screamingbee.com/product/download.aspx.

Dxtory is a good software, but also try using action!, fraps and bandicam. All good recorders.

If you want, i can send you the trailer of our server. It will maybe get you inspired and help you with some shots.

Use fraps for recording, it's a good software for recording.

I wouldn't personally use text-to-speech. When I very first started making videos I did contemplate it, as I was younger and felt my youngish voice wouldn't do the video justice.

But text-to-speech sounds so dull, dry and fake. It's honestly better to use your voice. Try adding a little bass to it in audacity If you are really worried, or ask a friend who's maybe got a different accent/voice or is a little more confident.

Your Dxtory setup is exactly what I'd recommend, so nothing wrong there. A bit of advise with cam-hack. Try to be smooth with your shots, and try to have realistic ones too. Following a car? Put the camera on the bonnet, on the side looking down at the window, be creative with it, it's quite a powerful tool If you know how to work it well.

In regards to Vegas, I personally use AE but I did use Vegas a long time ago. If I were you, I'd treat the editing as 'less is more'. Rather than over-editing it, try and simplify it. Use clean looking fonts with basic colours. If you look anywhere nowadays, the 'clean' look is what everyone seems to go for.

Maybe I'm over-thinking it but just try and do something new, don't do what everyones done before.

Good luck, make sure to let us know how you go.

I'd use fraps to be honest as that's what I've used in the past and they are trustworthy.

Fraps is good because it doesn't compress. You get the exact quality you have in game and you have the liberty to process it the way you want. All it costs is hard drive space.

As for voice, I'd use microphone as well. In fact, I'm preparing to record stuff in GTA V and I am looking for a good microphone. A trailer doesn't have to contain a lof of voice for presentation. But having a good voice can really make a difference. So if you're not sure of your own voice, you can exercise, or get someone else to do it for you. It's the best way to get quality.
