Is it just me or are games getting boring???

Lately I've been looking for a good game to play, but no matter what I try, I get bored with it.

I own games like Prototype, AOEIII, Kane and Lynch, Oblivion, Fallout 3, BF2, Crysis, Saints Row 2, and more...

...but they all seem... boring.

It's like your only goal in games is to go and kill something for no apparent reason. While doing this, you come to the conclusion they you'll either die, or get to kill something else. Not only that, but there is little or NO benefit to beating the game, depending on the game. Some build logic, some help reaction time, but otherwise, you play a game for a week, finish it, and look back at that week you could have spent doing something useful. Instead, you have a disk that you may use once a year, and some memory on your pc containing a useless accomplishment known as a savegame. In two years time or more, that save-game won't matter and the disk would probably be lost.

In the end, though, games seem to be boring. They are the same thing over and over... kill stuff, or try to beat something.

The only games that seem NOT to be boring are online games. But these are only fun if you know someone in the server your playing on.

One of the main problems with online games is that they are even more repetitive than single-player games. The only difference is humans choose what happens in real-time.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Has anyone found a game other than SA:MP that quenches their thirst for some decent gaming?

Also, what do you think would make the ultimate game?
My ultimate game would have endless possibilities(destroyable environments, drivable/destructible vehicles, customizable weapons, global dynamic objects, etc.) and be ONLINE. Other than that... I'm not sure what else would be in it.

Thanks in advance,
Matrix

I play COD 4 modded servers. Gun Game, Obscurity, Freeze tag, etc. and they keep me happy cause they have like different twists to the game

I also really liked Portal, but I wish they could have added more. Same with Mirror's Edge

I play CoD4 for a hell of a time now and I still love doing it. Why? It maybe pointless to play it, but I am having fun and meeting new people. I am also aiming to be the best that is what an online game is all about right? To beat everybody and become number one.

When I get bored of playing new games I install copy&paste really old game like Super Mario or my favorite Dinopark Tycoon

I find that old games from consoles are appealing to me again, such as maniac mansion, flashback, deja vu.

Ultimate game would be along the lines of Little Big Planet, but with free roam 3d capabilities (not just side scrolling), with graphics that are of the GTAIV kind, next gen console graphics. So you can customize beyond customization.

Growing up. Definetly =]

I player a lot of games 2-3 years ago, no i play only SA:MP, Team Fortress 2 and seldom other games, if I install any game that I played a lot in the past - I play it 2hrs max =/ (Deus Ex is the only exception but cmon, it's DEUS EX!) I have lots of games for PS2 but I finished maybe 60% of them, other became boring even though I bought the game only when I liked it A LOT (cause I'm strict PC gamer - I bought PS2 for GTA:SA, Mercenaries, The Warriors etc)
Damn I feel old xD But is it bad? I don't think so - I have normal life, friends, I go to parties, socialize, etc but also play games from time to time, and I think I achieved some kind of BALANCE (or as others would say - normal life) and I'm happy with it...
