A plane carrying 148 people crashed in the French Alps.

The Airbus A320 operated by Lufthansa’s Germanwings budget airline crashed in southern France earlier this morning.

The plane was travelling from Barcelona, Spain, to Duesseldorf, Germany and all people on board are believed to be dead.

Rescue teams started making their way to the remote mountainous region where the plane crashed at an altitude of around 6500ft in Meolans-Revels.

The plane was carrying 142 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew, citing aviation officials. The area where the plane went down is near a popular ski resort.

Fourth plane crash since January 2015 if I remember correctly.

More than once a month. My advice this year is to move by boat, by car, or even using your good ol' feet. But avoid planes.

Keep your tinfoil hat to yourself. The number of fatalities has not spiked over the past few months or years - rather, air travel is as safe now as it has ever been thanks to our good friend 'technology'.

This is always mentioned when an accident like this happens, but it's just that people forget about old tragedies so whenever there's a new one (or a few within a month or a year), suddenly they perceive there to be significantly more than in the past. It's a cognitive bias and it's wrong.

It's always been significantly safer to fly than to drive - comparing number of air fatalities to car accident fatalities.

Another plane crash? That's terrible! This world is no longer a safe place, to be honest. Like, so many air fatalities from the last few months. Ah...
