it's compatible with many plugin.

I suppose you could go with whatever distribution you feel comfortable with. Linux distributions can be divided roughly in two: Debian based and RedHat based. By personal preference I'd go in the Debian direction. This includes Debian itself and Unbuntu.
You could also take a look at TurnKey Linux. These are also Debian, but come preinstalled with the services you require. You can pretty much download an entire LAMP stack (Apache, MySQL, PHP) which has been entirely set up. Some of them come with phpMyAdmin and WebMin.

You should aim to use a few. Get to know the operating system and how the commands work. After this you can make your opinion on what you think is best for you. Almost all the plugins on the forums support multiple versions of Linux so compatibility isn't really an issue. You will also need to think about the fact that you have consumer type distros like Ubuntu which is easier to use in many peoples opinion. However, CentOS being a RedHat distro is aimed more for servers. There are many factors which you need to include in order to come to a conclusion.
