Will you(developers) do something about the lag slam in 0.3z?

I hope so! It's going to be awesome for roleplay server so police officers can actually PIT the suspect.

Afaik unlagging vehicles is MUCH more complicated than unlagging weapons.
For weapons it works well to rely on the client who shoots, because it isnt that dramatic if the player is aiming slightly next to you. But for vehicles this would result in rather strange effects.

Imagine someone is ramming a vehicle. The packet reporting this is sent to the server, and to the client who got rammed. This adds up the players ping and will result in some 100ms ping. In that time, the rammed player already moved on for a while, so the "ram packet" reaches him, when the ramming vehicle already is somewhere else. The slammed vehicle would ghostly turn over without the other vehicle actually touching it. This would result in much more confusion than the current system.

Alternatively, the movement of vehicles would have to be predicted, so the clients see the vehicles where they could be right now. Getting this working isnt too hard, but getting this working WELL is much harder. Unaccurate predictions would get corrected permanently, resulting in vehicles beaming around and not moving smooth at all. Especially when turning people would see the vehicle just going straight for a moment, then jumping to the side suddenly.

Anyone else got better ideas how to sync vehicles? I dont.

Not saying I would like such feature, but in World of Tanks, as far as I know the server calculates all positions. You press a button, let's say "left", the button gets sent to the server, the server sends back that your tank got to the left, simultaneously for all players. Almost everything is controlled server-side & sent to the client

Honestly I'm happy with what they have done so far. So I'm just happy I can actually shoot someone
