Black Screen
#1

Alright so.. I have laptop Toshiba Satelite A300D for 5 years now. And all this time it was working perfectly and 2 days ago my screen stopped working. Whenever i try to turn it on screen is black.. I tried holding Power button and unplug everything but nothing. I went to local computer store to get my laptop checked out and they say it's the motherboard. But here is the thing. Whenever i plug in battery on other locations in my house (Bedroom,Kitchen ect...) It starts but i can do it only once. So can that be battery problem? Please help.

Really strange problem. I don't think its battery problem, did you tried replacing your charger?

I think some of the connector cables from your screen is defect [after 5 years its possible]
I dont think the battery can make a problem like that'..

Yeah i think it is the charger to. The bulbs on LCD are fine and everything. I checked my RAM it's good to.

So you are saying it works on battery, have you tried it without the battery plugged in and just on AC? What model laptop?

Happened to me twice, but on desktop the reason was motherboard only. I didn't tried plugging my desktop to other switch cause moving it is pain in an ass.

If it happens when you plug it in elsewhere then you properly have dodgy electrics or a crap AC adapter...

Laptops should last for a lot more than 5 years if cared for properly, I still have a desktop replacement laptop and a netbook from 2006 that still work fine...

I had the same problem a year ago (my laptop must be older than yours). Just get your battery out and un-plug the charger, then after some seconds put back your battery, turn your laptop on and after a minute plug your charger. It should work now.
