Curious to know as to what exactly a beta tester does

Do you guys help developing (as in, actually write code yourself) or just test the releases that Kalcor made? Do you have access to the sa-mp source code? Is there some sort of division of work? How big is your input when it comes to things that will/won't be implemented? Are all of you experienced programmers?
